JSE extends rally on Thursday

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) rallied for the second consecutive session running on Thursday, as it looked to catch up with some major international markets.

The all share index was up 2.16 percent to 50,543.44 points at close of session, led mainly by the industrial and banking indices.

On the JSE, Steinhoff led the top-40 index for the second day, notching up 6.21 percent to R74.08, adding to a 9.5 percent rise on Wednesday, following its quarterly report.

Among other individual stocks on the local share market, Glencore was up 5.15 percent to R52.89 and Anglo American picked up 4.04 percent to R219. Kumba Iron Ore was up 2.43 percent to R170.56.

Transport and logistics group Imperial gained 1.6 percent to R181.65.

Standard Bank was up 3.85 percent to R153.17 and Barclays Africa picked up 3.69 percent to R167.05. Sanlam was up 2.01 percent to R61.99. Endit
