Spraying operations against a dengue fever outbreak is expected to be launched in the capital Ouagadougou after it has killed at least 15 people since October this year.

Health authorities of Burkina Faso disclosed this on Wednesday in the capital Ouagadougou, making it clear that the operation will focus on special areas of the town.

According to figures from the World Health Organization (WHO), 15 fatal cases out of a total of 1,061 probable cases of the disease have been registered from August 5 to November 12 this year in the capital Ouagadougou.

To deal with the issue, Burkina health authorities have decided to conduct spraying operation in health centers that hosted patients with dengue fever as well as in some high concentration places for mosquitoes in the town.

WHO categorizes dengue as neglected tropical disease and influenza-like infectious disease which is transmitted to human being through mosquito bites. Endit
