Macedonia to build plant capable of manufacturing weapons for NATO: minister

Xinhua, December 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Macedonia will build a modern plant able to produce ammunition and personal defense weapons in line with NATO standards, Macedonian Defense Minister Zoran Jolevski said Wednesday.

He spoke at the launch of the 5 million U.S. dollars investment along with U.S. company Broadstone Defense in building an ammunition manufacturing plant.

Broadstone Defense will transfer state-of-the-art technology to the small town of Makedonski Brod in central Macedonia, he highlighted.

The project is expected to be completed in late May 2017 with the production process being planned for July 2017. Officials expected the project would create 200 jobs.

Jolevski said the investment was a strong step made in enhancing the combat readiness of the Macedonian Army.

Makedonski Brod mayor Milosim Vojneski said the investment meant a lot for local economic development and youth employment. Enditem
