Macedonia's elections to be followed by over 4,700 observers

Xinhua, December 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Some 4,700 observers will follow the early parliamentary elections of Macedonia to be held on Dec. 11, Macedonia's State Election Commission (SEC) said in a statement Wednesday.

A total of 4,047 domestic and 659 foreign observers applied for accreditation to the SEC up to the Dec. 6 deadline, the SEC statement said.

On the other hand, the SEC stated that some 60 foreign journalists would also be here to follow and report on the election process and election day.

Parties and coalitions participating in the early parliamentary elections of Dec. 11 continued their election campaigning Wednesday with pre-election rallies and meetings in several towns throughout Macedonia, media here reported.

These elections are deemed as an opportunity for Macedonia to push forward its EU integration bid, but also as a solution to end the extended political deadlock in the country. Endit
