Bahrain is set to welcome Gulf leaders on Tuesday as it will host the 37th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit that aims to discuss key issues facing the region and integration on areas of mutual interest.
His Majesty King Hamad will be receiving the Gulf leaders upon their arrival to the country, Bahrain's Royal Court announced in a statement on Monday.
"The meeting aims to boost the joint Arabian Gulf work for more cooperation and integration among the GCC countries and peoples," said the statement.
Also on Monday, Bahrain's cabinet welcomed the visit of the British Prime Minister Theresa May to Bahrain, which is her first trip to the Middle East region since her premiership.
"Prime Minister May's decision to make her first regional visit to GCC, and take part in the 37th GCC Summit was a strong message that the United Kingdom had not withdrawn from the world, particularly the region," said UK government spokesperson in the Middle East and North Africa, Edwin Samuel.
