Xinhua, December 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Lithuania's economy expanded by 1.7 percent in the three months to the end of September on an annual basis, second estimate by Lithuania Statistics showed on Wednesday.

The estimate is seasonally and working-day adjusted.

The preliminary estimate indicated that the Baltic country's GDP advanced by 1.6 percent in the third quarter this year.

Despite marginal increase, the latest figures show that Lithuania's economy has been slowing down for the second quarter in a row this year.

The country's GDP advanced by 2.1 percent in the second quarter this year, comparing with the same quarter in 2015.

Wholesale and retail trade, accommodation, food services and real estate activities were behind the main positive influence on the change in the previous quarter, statistical data showed.

Based on adjusted data, Lithuania's GDP at constant prices amounted to 10.342 billion euros (10.96 billion U.S. dollars).

Compared to the second quarter of 2016, seasonally and working day adjusted, the real GDP change stood at 0.1 percent. Endit
