1st LD: Francois Fillon ahead in conservative primary runoff with 68.2 pct of vote

Former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon led in the conservative primary runoff for the 2017 presidential election on Sunday, according to the partial results.

According to the partial results announced by the committee of the conservative primary runoff, Fillon gained 68.2 percent of the vote in the decisive round against 31.8 percent for his contender Alain Juppe.

Voting opened at 10,228 polling stations across France at 8 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. local time.

Fillon will represent the conservative party to run for the presidency in the 2017 election. Endit
