Jordan endorses 2017 state budget

Jordan on Sunday endorsed the 2017 state budget with an estimated spending of 8.9 billion dinars (about 12.5 billion U.S. dollars), the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The budget forecasts foreign grants to reach 777 million dinars, the report said.

Budget deficit, which after grants is expected to reach 827 million dinars, projected for 2017 represents 2.8 percent of the gross domestic product, it added.

Spending in 2017 state budget is 7.5 percent higher than 2016, it said.

Of the total spending, 1.3 billion dinars is capital expenditure that will be focused on projects in fields of energy, water, health, education, transportation and development of governorates.

Capital expenditure in 2017 is 12.7 percent higher than that of 2016, it added. Endit
