Namibia's first-ever HIV/AIDS conference, scheduled on Nov. 28 to 30, will see more than 350 delegates discuss ways of containing the disease.
Scholars, health professionals and representatives of the World Health Organization, Namibia National Students Organization, UNAIDS as well the business community are among the delegates to attend the event.
The conference follows the 2015 HIV/AIDS report, launched by UNAIDS on Nov. 21 in Windhoek.
The report revealed that more than 210,000 people are living with the virus in Namibia, and more than 149,000 are on antiretroviral therapy.
According to the UNAIDS report, 18 million people are on antiretroviral therapy worldwide.
Jeremia Nghipundjwa, health director of Namibia's Erongo, said the conference provides an opportunity to build on Namibia's past achievements by sharing information on new interventions.
It will also bring together academics and researchers to share their latest studies on HIV prevention and treatment to "turn back the clock on HIV by 2030," he said. Enditem
