Some 15 containers have been unveiled under Dusseldorf's landmark, the over-200-meter-high telecommunications tower Rheinturm, to showcase cultural artifacts from the countries along the "Belt and Road" routes.
Launched Monday night under the title of "Blue Containers" on New Silk Road, the event will last six days and see paintings, handicrafts, and musical instruments, among others, on display in containers marked with national flags of China, Greece, Italy, Austria, and Turkey etc., respectively.
Addressing the event opening ceremony, Vice-President of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW)'s Landtag, Gerhard Papke, said the "Blue containers" have demonstrated it clearly that the "Belt and Road" is not only an economic belt but also a cultural road that promotes cultural exchanges between countries.
"New Silk Road brings us closer through culture," he added.
The "Blue containers" will tour the countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" routes and aim to become a platform for boosting cultural and economic exchanges between the countries, according to event organizers. Endit
