Myanmar to extend stay permit duration for foreign businessmen

Xinhua, November 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Myanmar will extend the stay permit of foreign investors, experts and employees working in the country to one year, U Thein Swe, Minister for Labor, Immigration and Population, told the parliament Tuesday.

U Thein Swe said that the ministry is extending the stay permit of the foreigners to six months or one year on showing work permit and other official documents, but the permit charge will cost more.

There are currently 12 types of entry visas into Myanmar and three types of re-entry visas. Foreigners staying with business visa, work visa and social visa are to renew their stay permit and visa in accordance with their types if they want to continue to stay in the country.

The Stay Permit allows the foreigners to work for three months in first duration, and the duration extends to six months or one year if they renew the stay permit.

The Multi Re-Entry Permit allows the foreigners to work in the country for one year with periods of international travel but they also have to hold a stay permit. Endit
