Singapore stocks close 0.2 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 5.53 points, or 0.2 percent, to close at 2,822.20.

A total of 2.42 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.58 billion Singapore dollars (1.11 billion U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 235 to 196, while 654 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 21.98 points, or 0.77 percent, to close at 2,816.67 on Monday. Endit
