Bomb in garbage kills child in Egypt's Cairo

Xinhua, November 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

A six-year-old child was killed on Saturday by a bomb he found in garbage in one of the impoverished neighborhoods of the capital Cairo, the Egyptian Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The statement said that the child, whose father works in garbage recycling, along with his peer found a bomb in a garbage heap. The bomb exploded while they were playing with it at home.

"The explosion killed a child and wounded the other in the left hand," said the statement.

Egypt has been facing a rising wave of anti-government terrorist operations over the past few years since the military removed former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 following mass protests against his one-year rule.

Most of the terrorist attacks were claimed by the so-called "Sinai State," a Sinai-based group loyal to the regional Islamic State (IS) militant group. Endit
