Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday in a meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan called for strengthened defense cooperation between the two countries.

The Iranian and Chinese military officials' reciprocal meetings will strengthen mutual cooperation in defensive fields, the president said.

Iran is fully ready to implement all agreements with China based on the roadmap of cooperation, and the defense field is an important part of this cooperation, Rouhani noted.

Chang said that continuous and further cooperation in the fields of defense and military exchange between China and Iran will play an important role in maintaining regional and world stability, security and peace.

The military exchange and cooperation of China and Iran will for sure be boosted on basis of mutual respect, Chang added.

Chang arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a three-day visit at the invitation of his counterpart Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan. Endit
