With China's market and infrastructure investment in Philippines, Filipino farmers will earn more money by exporting fruits, a senior Chinese official said on Tuesday.
China is doing its best to help Filipino farmers by advancing trade and investment cooperation between China and Philippines, Wu Zheng Ping, director general of Asian affairs of China's Ministry of Commerce said on a news brief in Manila.
Wu said eight Chinese companies have already signed contracts, importing about 100,000 tons of Philippine fruits to China, including Philippine bananas, Pineapples and mangoes.
With high Philippine fruits demand in China's market, Filipino farmers can sell fruits at a good price. Wu assured that Chinese companies will import more Philippine fruits, especially in Mindanao.
Wu also pointed out that low selling price of fruits from Filipino farmers is caused by poor logistic systems which Chinese government and companies are willing to help to improve.
He said Chinese government encouraged Chinese companies to invest in infrastructure in Philippines, like ports, high ways etc., enabling Filipino farmers to sell their fresh products to the world in a easier way at a good price. Endit
