At least eight more lives were lost on the Namibian roads, while 23 persons have been injured in 14 crashes within two and a half days from Friday up until Sunday.
Rosalia Martins-Hausiku, Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund of Namibia, said in a statement on Monday the continued loss of life on Namibia's roads is disheartening.
"Of note is that the total number of fatalities includes all the five occupants of one vehicle as well as one from the other vehicle that was involved in the same crash, while two pedestrians both succumbed to injury in Kavango," she said.
Martins-Hausiku said that the B1 route which claimed the indicated six lives on Friday, is becoming notoriously dangerous as it continues to take more lives.
According to her, the situation calls for a revised approach to road safety management especially along the B1, by the relevant stakeholders so as to counter the continued loss of life.
Meanwhile, Martins-Hausiku urged road users, especially drivers, to regulate themselves in terms of taking responsibility of their own and other people's safety, plan their journey carefully to mitigate potential risks, and to avoid night-time driving as visibility is compromised. Enditem
