Ukraine announces trade mission to China to unlock cooperation potential

Ukraine will send a trade mission to China next year in a bid to unlock the vast cooperation potential between the countries, Ukrainian Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Natalia Mykolska announced on Friday.

"We have a potential to boost the exports to China by 2 billion U.S. dollars -- it is a mega-large market. Besides, we are interested in cooperation with Chinese investors," Mykolska said during an international economic forum in western Lviv city.

She said that during the visit, Ukraine's delegation will pay particular attention to a diversification of trade with China.

Ukraine's statistics showed China became the second-largest partner of the East European country last year, with bilateral trade amounting to 6.18 billion dollars.

Of the total trade volume, the East European nation's exports, mainly mineral commodities and agricultural products, stood at 2.4 billion dollars. Meanwhile, imports, primarily textile goods, metals and polymeric materials, took some 3.78 billion dollars.

In 2015, Ukraine has attracted 22.6 million dollars worth of investment from China in its industrial, agriculture, transport and trade sectors. Endit
