Chinese embassy donates libraries for Lao schools

Xinhua, November 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese Embassy in Laos has donated "Ambassador Library Rooms" for two schools in the Lao capital of Vientiane.

Speaking at a handover ceremony on Friday, Chinese Ambassador Guan Huabing said China always attaches great importance to education exchanges between the two countries, and has actively supported Laos in personnel training.

China is willing to join hands with Laos to create more platforms for further deepening cultural exchanges between the two sides, Guan said.

The ambassador expects that the "Ambassador Library Rooms" will help create a good reading environment for children at the two schools - Sinxay primary-junior secondary school and Nahaidiew primary school.

At the same time, it is hoped that the libraries will help bring vitality for the development of Laos' education sector, and will plant a seed of China-Laos friendship, he said, urging the students to contribute to China-Laos friendship.

For his part, Lao Vice Minister of Education and Sports Lytou Bouapao said the donation of libraries reflects China's attention and concern to Laos' education development.

Lytou asked the two schools to make full use of the libraries and nurture a life-long reading habit among students. Through reading, it is expected that Lao students will understand more about the Chinese culture.

The two "Ambassador Library Rooms" include over 2,700 books and printers, library facilities as well as teaching equipment. Endit
