Albanian gov't passes draft budget for 2017

Xinhua, November 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Albanian government has approved the 2017 draft budget and will send it to the parliament on Monday, Albanian Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj told reporters on Friday.

Ahmetaj described the 2017 draft budget as one that will fund the reforms, the growth of wages and pensions as well as help in the reduction of public debt.

The fiscal package that accompanies the draft budget also foresees tax incentives for business, namely for the inward processing sector and domestic manufacturers, Ahmetaj said.

The official further said that the budget for 2017 is aimed at consolidating the downward trajectory of public debt, reducing it from 71.8 percent to 69.1 percent.

According to him, although 2017 is an electoral year, the current government has prepared the draft budget with the aim of further consolidating finance and continuing the reforms. Endit
