Czech policemen leave for border guard mission in Macedonia, Serbia

A group of 55 Czech policemen left on Monday for missions in Serbia and Macedonia to help guard the borders and to help solve the impact of the migration crisis in both countries, said Czech Police President Tomas Tuhy.

According to Tuhy, the police who return from these foreign missions gain experience that is valuable for the Czech Republic.

He said that Europe currently has a deteriorating security situation due to illegal migration and the terror attacks in some states of the European Union. And therefore the Czech police needs to prepare for these new forms of threats.

Experience in similar missions will help Czech police prepare for security threats that Europe faces at present, said Tuhy.

In their foreign missions, Czech police officers usually help with border guarding, performing security inspections and searching vehicles. They patrol with their foreign colleagues, who also command them.

Czech police began their foreign missions a year ago when the migration crisis erupted.

So far, over 400 Czech police officers participated in 12 foreign missions in Macedonia, Hungary, Slovenia and Greece. Now the first Czech police contingent also went for mission in Serbia. Endit
