U.S. keen to expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan on security: Pentagon official

The United States is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan on security and defense, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense with responsibility for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia, Michael Carpenter, said here on Monday.

The United States will continue to work in this direction, Carpenter said when meeting with Azerbaijan's Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov.

On the combat readiness of the Azerbaijani army, Carpenter emphasized that the army is equipped with advanced weapon, and is able to respond rapidly to any threat.

Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Hasanov elaborated on programs of Azerbaijan's military cooperation with the United States and NATO.

The meeting also highlighted efforts to broaden bilateral relations, including cooperation in the field of security and defense, military education and medical training. Endit
