10 Al-Shabaab fighters killed in Southern Somalia

A total of 10 Al-Shabaab militants died while seven others were injured near Bardhere town located in the Gedo region of Southern Somalia following an operation carried out by Somalia National Army and African Union troops, a government official told reporters on Friday.

Colonel Osman Sheikh Ali, a senior government official said a three day military operation in the Al-Shabaab stronghold led to the death of the ten militants.

"We conducted a successful military operation in the Gedo region where 10 militants were killed while seven others sustained injuries," said Ali.

The Somalia National Army and African Union troops recaptured Bardhere town from Al-Shabaab in 2015. Endit
