Myanmar president leaves for visit to Vietnam

Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw left here Tuesday on a four-day state visit to Vietnam, according to official sources.

It is U Htin Kyaw's first official visit to the Southeast Asian nation after he became the President in April this year.

At the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Tran Dai Quang, U Htin Kyaw is paying the visit with the company of his wife Daw Su Su Lwin.

During his stay in Vietnam, U Htin Kyaw will also attend the 8th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit, the 7th Ayeyawaddy-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) and the World Economic Forum on the Mekong region in Hanoi.

Vietnam stood as the 10th largest investor in Myanmar's investment line-up with 693.262 million U.S. dollars as of September since late 1988.

Bilateral trade reached 346.858 million U.S. dollars in the previous fiscal year 2015-2016. The two countries vowed to raise their bilateral trade to 500 million U.S. dollars. Endit
