Xinhua, October 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

The death toll in a road accident near the Moroccan city of Casablanca rose to 11, local media reported on Tuesday.

Citing the delegate of the health ministry in the city of Berrechid, Mustapha Farih, the daily Akhbar Alyaoum said that 18 other people were also injured in the accident.

The daily revealed that the victims, who have family links, were on their way to attend an engagement party when their vehicle overturned in the city of Berrechid.

Authorities said an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident.

Deadly traffic accidents are common in the North African country.

A total of 3,565 people were killed in the country last year, according to data from the Moroccan transport ministry.

The ministry has adopted a new strategy 2015-2025 vowing to reduce the victims of accidents by 50 percent. Endit
