Singapore stocks close 0.9 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 25.62 points, or 0.9 percent, to close at 2,856.68.

A total of 1.51 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 781.5 million Singapore dollars (561.9 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 229 to 153, while 516 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 11.56 points, or 0.41 percent, to close at 2,831.06 on Oct. 21. Endit
