The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

-- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has described South Africa's decision to pull out of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as very good, describing the institution as useless.

Museveni said upon arrival at the Kenneth International Airport in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, that he totally supported South Africa's withdrawal from the ICC because the institution has become irrelevant. (Daily Nation)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has pardoned 336 prisoners as part of the celebrations for the country's 52 independence anniversary.

The inmates have been released through a presidential amnesty which the Zambian leader exercises. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has urged opposition political parties in Zambia to stop causing anarchy and accept defeat in the August 11 general elections.

Museveni, who in Zambia to participate in independence celebrations, said the country's main opposition United Party for National Development (UPND), should stop causing trouble and be patient and begin planning for the 2021 general elections. (Daily Nation)

-- Turkey will soon introduce direct flights between Zambia and the European country and has pledged to provide technical support in transport and communication.
