The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Students are expected to march on the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Thursday to call for free tertiary education, after another day of student protests. But police said students don't have permission to march to the Union Buildings. (News24)

-- The Democratic Alliance's youth league has officially laid charges at the Sunnyside Police Station in Pretoria against ANC Youth League president Collen Maine for inciting violence at a rally that was held last Saturday. (City Press)

-- Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan said on Wednesday he hopes to give South Africans the assurance that the State's finances are in good hands when he presents his medium-term budget next week.

This is seen as the latest indication from Gordhan that he expects to remain in his post, despite a fraud charge brought against him by the National Prosecuting Authority. (South African Broadcasting Corporation) Endit
