Xinhua, October 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

Typhoon Haima disrupted rail services in the southern Chinese provinces of Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong and Guangxi as the super typhoon was forecast to hit Guangdong Friday.

A total of 85 trains, mainly traveling between Jiangxi and Fujian, have been ordered to stop services between Thursday and Saturday, the Nanchang Railway Bureau said Thursday.

Meanwhile, all trains running between Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong will be halted on Friday, according to the Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation.

Railway authorities in Guangxi also canceled 20 trains linking with major cities in Guangdong, on Thursday and Friday.

Haima, the 22nd typhoon to hit China this year, was about 590 km southeast of Shenzhen at 4 p.m. Thursday. It was moving northwestward at 25-30 km per hour. Endi
