Cambodian PM to attend summits in Vietnam next week

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen will lead a high delegation to attend a series of summits in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, from Oct. 24 to 26, according to a Foreign Ministry's statement on Wednesday.

The forthcoming summits include the 8th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit and the 7th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, the statement said.

"With uncertainty of world economy, the leaders of the CLMV countries will also take the opportunity of their gathering in Hanoi to meet with the other leaders of the Mekong countries at the World Economic Forum on the Mekong region with the theme 'Seeking Synergy' ," the statement said.

The statement said at the end of each summit, the leaders of CLMV would adopt the joint statement of the 8th CLMV summit, while the leaders of ACMECS countries would adopt the Hanoi Declaration of the 7th ACMECS.

ACMECS countries comprise Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. There are eight sectors that ACMECS is cooperating, namely trade and investment, agriculture, industry and energy, transportation, tourism, human resources development, public health, and environmental conservation. Endit
