First World Winter Sports Expo opens to new future

The First World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo (WWSE) opened here on Wednesday, aiming to create a new future for the sports' industry in China.

The WWSE will be held in China National Convention Center during October 19 to 22, attracting more than 400 brands around the world to exhibit in four sections: winter sports, sports style, events and culture, and interactive experience.

There will also be a two-day conference with the theme of "Opening the Future". The conference focuses on the trend of the worldwide development of world winter sports industry and winter sports development in China.

The conference will be accompanied by six parallel forums, including winter sports equipment and technology, ski resort operation and management, internet plus sports marketing, winter sports tourism, winter sports talents development and winter sports industry investment and financing.

"Beijing has become the host city of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games so winter sports have seen brand new development potentials in the future," said Beijing Mayor Wang Anshun.

According to the organizers, there were 5.13 million skiers and 12.5 million skier visits in China in 2015. The total volume of matured ski equipment market in China is estimated to be nearly 200 billion yuan.

The WWSE will be held from 2016 annually at a professional and national level, fulfilling the promise for the international society and the International Olympic Committee during the bid for 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Endit
