Spanish children spend four working days a month using mobile phone apps: study

The average Spanish child spends the equivalent of four working days a month using mobile phone applications, a study has shown.

Conducted by Locategy, a company dedicated to improving security of mobile phones for families and companies, the study showed that in total Spanish children spend 34 hours a month using mobile apps, which is more than the total of four eight-hour working days.

The study also indicated that the five most used apps were WhatsApp, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and Google Chrome.

Messaging service WhatsApp was the most used, with youngsters using it an average of 23 times a day in short sessions which last an average of 1.12 minutes, adding up to a total of 13 hours a month.

Video app Youtube saw the longest sessions, which were around seven minutes long, while the average session on Facebook lasted for 2.7 minutes.

The study was carried out using a sample of 500,000 applications managed through Locategy's service. Endit
