Late Kramer goal saves Feyenoord in Dutch league

Xinhua, October 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

After eight wins in a row Feyenoord was close to losing points at NEC in Nijmegen on Sunday, but Michiel Kramer earned the Dutch league leaders a late win.

Mohamed Rayhi gave the home team the lead in the ninth minute when he surprised Feyenoord goalkeeper Brad Jones with a shot from outside the penalty area. Despite pressure from the visitors, it took until the final quarter for the equalizer.

After substitute Steven Berghuis hit the post, Nicolai Jorgensen scored from the rebound. In injury time the Danish striker hit the post, but substitute Michiel Kramer headed in the winning goal (2-1).

Also on Sunday, Ajax beat ADO Den Haag 2-0 in The Hague. After a fine lob by Lasse Schone, Davy Klaassen gave Ajax the advantage in the first half, and Bertrand Traore secured the victory in the second.

On Saturday, PSV drew 1-1 at home against Heracles Almelo. Samuel Armenteros opened the scoring for Heracles, and four minutes from half-time Gaston Pereiro equalized. In the second half, the reigning champions failed to produce another goal. AZ and Vitesse drew 2-2 in Alkmaar on Saturday, while sc Heerenveen beat FC Groningen 3-0 in Groningen.

Feyenoord now lead the Eredivisie with the maximum of 27 points, followed by Ajax (22), sc Heerenveen (18), PSV (18) and AZ (16). Next week Feyenoord host Ajax in Rotterdam. Enditem
