Zambia picks provisional squad for World Cup qualifier

Stand-in head coach of the Zambia national team Wedson Nyirenda on Sunday announced a 23 member provisional squad of local players to start preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Cameroon next month.

In a statement posted on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) website, the trainer said that the local players will start preparations for the November 12 clash on Sunday, October 16.

"The residential camp will be held in Lusaka and it will be for a month. Foreign-based players will join us later, but the door remains open for more local players to join us," he said.

Zambia lost 1-2 to Nigeria in the first game of the Group B qualifiers at home on October 9, while Cameroon were held to 1-all draw by Algeria.
