Chinese top legislator expresses condolences over passing of Thai king

Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), Thursday sent a message of condolences to President of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand Pornpetch Wichitcholchai over the passing of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

In the name of the NPC, Zhang extended his deep condolences to Pornpech and sincere sympathy to the Thai people.

Zhang said that King Bhumibol was an outstanding leader deeply revered by the people of Thailand and that under his wise leadership, Thailand has made substantial achievements.

He said the king was a good friend of the Chinese people and that he had grown profound friendship with several generations of Chinese leaders.

Zhang said the NPC is willing to work with the Thai National Legislative Assembly to make unremitting efforts in expanding the traditional friendship between the two countries and to strengthen the Sino-Thai comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. Endi
