Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed confidence that the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping would usher in "a new era of intensive cooperation" in trade, investment and other sectors between the two nations.

Hasina made the comments Tuesday ahead of President Xi's visit to the country. "We are very happy and feel honored that President Xi is coming to Bangladesh. I believe that President Xi's visit will also be more important for South Asia," she told Xinhua at her official Ganobhaban residence in the capital Dhaka. (Bangladesh-China-Ties)

LISBON -- The economic and trade relations between China and Portugal have entered a period of steady development with bilateral trade volume increasing rapidly and Chinese investment in Portugal expanding, Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Cai Run said here on Wednesday.

In an interview with Xinhua before the opening of the Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation Between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in Macao on Tuesday, Cai said China-Portugal ties are at their historical best and as 2016 marks the starting year of the second 10 years since the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership, their relationship also faces great opportunities. HANOI -- Groups of Chinese travelers will be able to stay in Vietnam's border city of Mong Cai in Quang Ninh province for up to three days without applying for a tourist visa, according to local authorities on Wednesday.

Vietnam's northern Quang Ninh, which borders China, has eased visa requirements for Chinese citizens to encourage travelers to visit Mong Cai. (Vietnam-China-Tourism)

KOH KONG, Cambodia -- After about a seven-hour drive from the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh in a recent field trip, Xinhua journalists came to the deep jungle in Mondol Sima district of southwestern Koh Kong province where the lower Stung Russei Chrum hydropower station, one of the six hydroelectric stations which are constructed by China and all now in operation, is located.

Within the framework of China's Belt and Road Initiative, the hydroelectric station, which was built by giant power company China Huadian Corp and began operation in January 2015 after nearly five years of construction, has been harvesting early results, contributing to Cambodia's socio-economic development, promoting the country's energy safety and improving the livelihood of the Cambodian people.
