Saudi king sends Sanaa blast victims abroad for treatment

Xinhua, October 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Saudi king Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saudi ordered Wednesday to send seriously injured Yemeni victims of the hotel blast in Sanaa to be treated abroad, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The King ordered King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in coordination with the Saudi-led coalition, the elected Yemeni government and UN affiliated organizations to facilitate the transfer of critical cases that required special medical care to be treated abroad.

The King highlighted that the directive was part of many Saudi humanitarian initiatives to Yemenis.

The victims were injured in an airstrike that targeted a funeral reception at a hotel this week in Yemen's capital Sanaa.

The coalition denied any connection behind the bombing that killed hundreds of people, calling for finding other reasons behind the blast. It launched a probe in association with U.S. experts.

The funeral reception was held for the father of the acting interior minister and rebel Houthi loyalist Jalal al-Ruwaishan.

The coalition has been carrying out airstrikes in Yemen since the beginning of war against Houthis on March 26 that led to the deaths of many civilians on both sides. Endit
