Singapore stocks close 1.49 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 42.42 points, or 1.49 percent, to close at 2,813.71.

A total of 2 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.32 billion Singapore dollars (956.4 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 277 to 132, while 491 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 14.11 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 2,856.13 on Tuesday. Enditem
