Iran defeats South Korea in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier

Xinhua, October 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iran beat South Korea 1-0 in Group A of Asian fixture in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Sardar Azmoun, who plays for FC Rostov in the Russian Premier League, cracked a shot to place the ball into the corner of Taegeuk Warriors' net on the 25th minute and put Iran's team at the privilege position.

The Iranians retreated after scoring the goal. The Koreans saw the chances ripe to mount a string of attacks and placed Iran's goalpost under pressure, but their efforts did not bear any fruit.

The win kept Iran at the top of Group A with 10 points followed by Uzbekistan with 9 and South Korea with 7 points. Endit
