Foreign investments in Albania up to 293 mln USD in Q2, 2016

The foreign investment in Albania saw an increase during the second quarter of 2016, official data showed Monday.

Data published by the Bank of Albania showed that the increase of foreign investments in Albania during the second quarter was overwhelmingly related to the projects in the sector of energy.

Same data confirmed that nearly 60 percent of foreign investments in the second quarter focused on major energy projects.

Bank of Albania data unveiled that the foreign direct investments (FDI) in Albania hit the value of 261 million euros (about 293 million U.S. dollars), registering a growth of 37 percent compared to the first quarter of the year.

On annual basis, the FDI grew by 24 percent, BoA data said.

The second sector attracting more foreign investments in the second quarter 2016 was financial sector as foreign investment in this sector amounted to 25 million euros. They were primarily related to additional capital injection in commercial banks operating in Albania from foreign groups, as official figures showed. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endit
