Hamburg have appointed Markus Gisdol as their new head coach, the "HSV" confirmed in an official statement on Sunday.

Former Hoffenheim coach Gisdol replaces Bruno Labbadia with immediate effect after putting pen to paper on a deal until July 2017.

The 47-year-old coach and his assistants Frank Froehling and Frank Kaspari will lead the first trainings session on Monday.

Gisdol, who coached Hoffenheim until October 2015, will be officially introduced on Monday. His new team sits currently on the 16th place of the Bundesliga standings.

The "HSV" encounter sixth placed Hertha Berlin at the sixth round in Bundesliga on Saturday. Endit
