A pilot of the Pakistan Air Force was killed on Saturday in a crash of a PAF aircraft in Khyber agency tribal region, officials said.

"Pakistan Air Force reports with regret that a PAF aircraft, while on a routine operational training mission, crashed near Jamrud (a main town in Khyber agency)," the PAF spokesman said.

The pilot of the aircraft Flt Lt Omer Shahzad sustained fatal injuries and died later, the spokesman said in a statement.

No loss of civilian life and property has been reported on the ground, he said.

A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the accident.

Locals said the aircraft came down in a mountainous area and that the security forces were seen heading to the area after the crash. Endit
