Int'l terrorism, refugees greatest threats to Bulgaria: survey

Xinhua, September 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

International terrorism and the influx of refugees are the biggest threats to Bulgaria, according to a survey released here on Wednesday.

The survey, conducted by the Alpha Research agency, showed that international terrorism unconditionally ranked first with 64 percent, followed immediately by the influx of refugees with 61 percent.

These two threats surpassed even current internal political problems such as corruption (59 percent) and country's slow economic development (49 percent), the survey said.

Meanwhile, 43.1 percent of respondents were of the opinion that the government should have a tougher policy towards the refugees.

Bulgaria is located on the southeastern part of the Balkan Peninsula, on the most direct route to refugee flows from Turkey to Central Europe, and shares a 259 km border with Turkey and 493 km with Greece. Endit
