Chinese fencer Zhou Jingjing claimed gold in the women's individual epee category B at the Rio Paralympics by defeating Thailand's Jana Saysunee in the final.

Zhou, 29, took the match 15-10, securing her first Paralympic fencing title at Carioca Arena 3.

"I'm so excited to win the gold medal bout against an excellent athlete," Zhou said. "I attacked more than her using a strategy based on the fact that she's taller and longer than me. I'm short but this is not a disadvantage: I could attack more because of that."

ln the bronze medal match Hong Kong, China's Chan Yui Chong defeated Germany's Simone Briese-Baetke 15-14. Endit
