Ke wins gold for China in 100m backstroke S7

Xinhua, September 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's Ke Liting won gold in the women's 100m backstroke S7 final at the Rio Paralympics on Thursday.

The 20-year-old touched the wall in 1 minute 23.06 seconds to beat compatriot Zhang Ying by just 28 hundredths of a second.

New Zealand's Rebecca Dubber clinched bronze in 1:23.85.

Despite competing at her second Paralympic Games, Ke had never previously won a medal at the quadrennial event. Her impairment is the result of polio, which she contracted as a child. Enditem
