Cyclist Sarah Storey became Britain's most successful Paralympian on Thursday, clinching her 12th gold medal by winning the C5 3,000m individual pursuit in Rio.
The 38-year-old passed silver medalist Crystal Lane, also of Britain, less than halfway through the final.
Storey's victory saw her overtake former wheelchair racer Tanni Grey-Thompson as the British record holder for the most Paralympic titles.
"I'd thought about being the most decorated Paralympian until two days ago - but Tanni's still a hero to me," said Storey, who won her first Paralympic gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Games as a swimmer.
"To go quicker than London after having my daughter Louisa is the icing on the cake. You can never underestimate anyone on the other side of the track. It's amazing and I don't think it will sink for a very long time."
Storey was born without a functioning left hand after her arm was entangled in the umbilical cord in her mother's womb.
The C5 category is for athletes that meet the minimum impairment criteria.
Storey is aiming to win another three gold medals in Rio: in the C4-5 road race, the C5 time trial and the C4-5 500m time trial. Endit
