Poll: 88 pct of French voters disapprove Hollande

Xinhua, September 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nine out of ten French citizens said not supporting French President Francois Hollande's re-election bid, a survey showed on Wednesday.

An Elabe poll for the news channel BFMTV showed 88 percent of voters disapprove the Socialist leader with 72 percent of left parties said they against Hollande's candidacy for 2017 election.

"It's obvious that the improvements on the economic front are too weak to produce political effects for his (Hollande) favor," said Yves-Marie Cann, director of politics studies at Elabe pollster.

Monthly jobless rate declined by 0.5 percent in July and recorded a year-on-year fall of 1.2 percent, offering a glimmer of hope to the unpopular French president who bet on lowering jobless trend to seek a second mandate.

He has previously asked the French people to judge him on his long-term bid to address the country's economic and financial problems.

The survey questioned 1,000 respondents on Sept. 6-7. Endit
