China exposes 1,220 "offshore" NGOs

Xinhua, September 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Chinese authority has found a total of 1,220 NGOs which are not properly registered.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs on Wednesday made public a list of 86 "offshore" NGOs -- organizations registered abroad by Chinese applicants -- and other unqualified Chinese organizations.

It is the 12th batch of names published by the ministry, taking the total number of such NGOs to 1,220.

According to Chinese regulations, social institutions established on the mainland should register with civil affairs departments.

The ministry said it will keep updating the list and encouraged the public to offer information. Endit
