Several people detained after car with gas cylinders abandoned in Paris

Xinhua, September 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Several people have been arrested after a car with seven gas cylinders were found abandoned in central Paris last Saturday night, local media reported on Wednesday.

The Peugeot 607 contained seven gas cylinders, including an empty one on the front passenger seat, French daily newspaper Le Figaro has reported.

The car had no registration plates and was found near the Notre-Dame cathedral with its hazard lights flashing, it added.

Anti-terrorism units did not discover detonators in the car while they found documents written in Arabic language.

Several people were arrested including a couple known to police for radicalization, according to the report.

France has been on high alert since Nov. 13, 2015, when a series of attacks led to the death of 130 people in Paris. In July, the country was hit by another two attacks, one in Nice in southern France and the other in a church in northern France. Endit
