Xinhua, September 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

An informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, also known as Gymnich, started in Bratislava on Friday.

The event is being hosted by Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak. The ministerial talks will be led by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini. The current issues of global foreign and security policy will be high on the agenda.

"The meeting will deal with evaluation of the recent development in Turkey and further development of the EU's relations with the country. Subsequently, the ministers will discuss the Minsk peace process and its prospects and fulfilment of the recently adopted global strategy of the EU in individual areas," said the communication department of the Slovak presidency in the Council of the EU on Friday.

Representatives from EU candidate countries - Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania and Turkey - have already been invited for the meeting.

"The talks of this extended formation are scheduled for Saturday morning and they should touch on the issue of combating terrorism and common challenges including prevention of radicalisation and extremism," added the department. Endit
