Singapore stocks close 0.83 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 23.83 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 2,892.52.

A total of 1.24 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.33 billion Singapore dollars (992.5 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 228 to 190, while 488 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost down 49.93 points, or 1.71 percent, to close at 2,868.69 on Friday. Endit
